Amid a legislative push to make Oregon more attractive to semiconductor companies there is a report Microchip Technology is evaluating an expansion of its Gresham operation. According to the Oregonian, citing unnamed state officials, the Arizona company is looking at its Gresham manufacturing site, known as fabs in the industry, for potential major investment. The company has 864 employees in Gresham. An expansion to the site is in process, said Dan Malinaric, corporate vice president of Microchip's Gresham fab.
